11-day Darwin to Cairns tour

A 11-day adventure-filled trip traveling from Darwin to Cairns?through the most remote parts of the Savannah Way. ?We travel east through Kakadu Mataranka Lorella Springs and Lawn Hill before finishing up in the tropical rainforest on the outskirts of Cairns. Our tours are focused on providing you with an Australian outback adventure. ?We explore the best natural attractions along the Savannah Way; observing native wildlife in their natural habitat hiking through gorges discovering ancient aboriginal rock art and swimming in pristine natural waterholes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Corroborree billabong and Kakadu National Park

Stop At: Kakadu National Park Kakadu National Park Top End Northern Territory
Our first stop is a wildlife cruise on the Corroboree Billabong before entering the world heritage listed Kakadu National Park to explore the Aboriginal paintings at Ubirr. We will also visit the Bowali Visitor Centre before setting up camp.

Day 2: Kakadu National Park

Today we visit Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls which involves a short cruise. We then head stop at Yellow Water Billabong before setting up camp.

Day 3: Bitter Springs or Mataranka Hot Springs Roper River Lomarieum Lagoon Nathan River Ranger Station and Limmen NP

Stop At: Elsey National Park Stuart Hwy Mataranka NT 0852 Australia
Mataranka Thermal Pool is like a warm spring-fed swimming pool in the palm trees and woodlands.

Stop At: Lomarieum Lagoon Limmen NT 0852 Australia
Along the Roper Road we find the tranquil Lomarieum Lagoon which is covered in glorious water lilies.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Limmen National Park Nathan River Road Borroloola Northern Territory Australia
It is a paradise for anglers and birdwatchers. A diversity of landscapes makes the drive through the Park varied and interesting. Along the main road you will experience woodlands rivers floodplains and billabongs while short detours reward visitors with more.

Day 4: Butterfly Gorge Southern Lost City and Lorella Springs Wilderness Park

Day 5: Lorella springs Wilderness Park

Today is all about adventure and exploring. With almost a thousand kilometres of tracks on the property we spend the daylight hours exploring Lorella Springs visiting swimming holes Aboriginal sites and viewpoints around the station.

Day 6: Borroloola and Echo Gorge

Stop At: Borroloola Borroloola Top End Northern Territory
We’ll stop in at a remote outback town called Borroloola. We ll cross over many pristine rivers and creeks where you’ll see giant ancient cycads growing. We make a stop at the lesser-known Echo Gorge to explore the area. Tonight we ll camp near the Northern Territory / Queensland border.

Day 7: Hells Gate Riversleigh fossil fields and Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park

The World Heritage area was inscribed for its outstanding natural universal values. It is one of the most significant fossil deposits in the world and the richest known fossil mammal deposit in Australia.

We ll make our way to Adel s Grove where there are peaceful clear swimming holes to camp near. We will base ourselves here for the next two nights.

Day 8: Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park

Stop At: Boodjamulla National Park Boodjamulla National Park Queensland
Today we spend the day in Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park which is one of Queensland’s most significant geological parks with interesting rocks and landscapes formed over hundreds of millions of years. Lawn Hill Gorge is surrounded by beautiful red sandstone and a beautiful rainforest; the gorge is filled with clear cold water from a distant spring making swimming irresistible. We will visit the upper gorge Indarri Falls and we ll complete the Island Stack walk. you’ll have plenty of opportunities to swim throughout the day.

Day 9: Leichhardt FallsBurke and Wills camp 119 Krys Crocodile and Lake Belmore

We ll take a swim in the stunning Lake Belmore near Croydon.

Day 10: Cumberland’s chimney the Ted Elliott (mineral) Collection and Undara Lava tubes

The park was established in 2009 to protect Australia longest lava tube and the unique fauna and flora found of the area.

Day 11: Kalkani Crater Millaa Milaa Falls and Josephine Falls

We ll make our way into the tropical rainforest to Millaa Millaa Falls where many TV commercials have been filmed.

Josephine Falls is a scenic waterfall fed by rains falling on Queensland’s highest peak and allows for a great swim.
