Departing from Hobart on this 6 to 7 hour tour you will start the day with a visit to the summit of Mt Wellington to take in the stunning 360-degree views of Hobart the Derwent River and the Huon Valley. If weather affects the view from the summit we will take an alternate route and take you first to Mt Nelson signal station with its Hobart and Derwent River views a favourite viewing spot for the arrival of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race competitors. You will then continue your journey into the Huon Valley past the beautiful towns of Huonville Franklin Geeveston and out to Tahune Adventures and its popular AirWalk offering views out over its wild rivers and beyond to the neighbouring Southwest World Heritage Wilderness Area. At the end of the day the group can opt for the 8 to 9 hour tour option and visit a local wildlife park Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (this option is not necessarily available for some Cruise Ship passengers depending upon cruise ship’s schedule).

A scenic 90-minute drive south from Hobart one of southern Tasmania s must-see attractions. You can walk high above the forest canopy and share the lives of the forest giants from up-close looking down to the place where the wild waters of the Huon and Picton Rivers mingle. The 600-metre walkway ends at a spectacular cantilevered platform 50 metres above the riverbank with views extending to the mountains of the World Heritage Area. Further into the forest follow the trail to the 2 swinging bridges or enjoy a peaceful walk along the Huon river get up close to see young and mature Huon pines growing in their natural riverine rainforest environment. Expolore paddling drifting and splashing on a raft or kayak through bouncy rapids and quiet stretches of the Picton and Huon River. Enjoy local Tasmanian produce in the cafe.

If chosen as an option from Richmond you journey out to Brighton to visit the iconic Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Here you can get up close and personal with some of Tasmania s native wildlife including its unique Tasmanian Devil Wombats Koalas Quolls Possums Echidnas and a large range of bird species. Meet their mob Kangaroos and Wallabies and we recommend a conversation with Fred the sulphur crested cockatoo who is over 103 years old! You will then be returned to Hobart (only a 30-minute drive) well in time for your cruise ship departure.
